5 Things I LOVED in K-pop: 12/17 – 12/23
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Festivus, Boxing Day (shout out to Gaya and all our Aussie peeps), or another holiday at this time of the year–here’s wishing you a holiday spent with those you love and filled with joy and peace. And now on to another thing we all know and love, K-pop. If you’re not up-to-date on your K-pop, no peeking, because spoilers most definitely will ensue.

5. An early Christmas gift for Girl’s Day
Granted Jung Hyung-don was showing off a bit that he was able to get Song Joong-ki on the phone during an episode of Weekly Idol, but I’m sure Girl’s Day, who apparently are HUGE Joong-ki fans, didn’t care. I like Min-ah’s reaction the best–no fooling around and gets to the heart of the matter, “Song Joong-ki sunbaenim saranghae-yo!” It’s always fun seeing idols acting like fangirls/boys, it reminds you that they really are just human, too.

4. Realizing what’s important in life
It was a wake-up call for Kang Hyun-min (Choi Siwon) on The King of Dramas, when an accident on the set of Kyungsung Morning was almost fatal if it were not for the quick actions of the President. The accident wasn’t Hyun-min’s fault, but if he had been a little more conscientious it could have been averted. It was a great episode for Hyun-min, as his character is finally growing up and becoming more of an actor than a spoiled pretty face (Brad Pitt churum).

3. Secret Dance lessons
On We Got Married, it was part two of Kwanghee and Sunhwa‘s house warming party with the members of Secret and Dongjun, Siwan, and Hyungsik from ZE:A in attendance. After sharing a meal (Kwanghee really shouldn’t eat in public or on TV), the girls give the boys a dance lesson to their choreo for “Poison.” Kwanghee is a bit too loose and Siwan a bit too uptight–that boy need to loosen those hips up a bit! The second half of the episode showed all three couples preparing and then leaving for their honeymoon trip to Hawaii (including Oh Yeon-seo protecting Lee Joon‘s “panties” from Kwanghee at the airport), hope to see more of their trip in next week’s episode.

2. Loving U, Namja Style
Last week’s Music Bank was filled to the brim with special stages, dance battles and Christmas cheer. One of my fave performances of the night was the special stage done by Teen Top‘s Chunji, Boyfriend‘s Donghyun, B.A.P‘s Zelo, and BTOB‘s Sungjae where they sang SISTAR‘s song “Loving U.” The performance was cute, not great, but what I liked about it was that they didn’t dress up as girls and act stupid to do the cover–they just did it.

1. A jolly time on Running Man
For Running Man‘s Christmas special they had five “jolly” guests: actor Park Sang-myun, comedian Jung Hyung-don, rapper Juvie Train of the Buga Kingz, actor/comedian Ryu Dam and Super Junior‘s Shindong. From the very beginning, friendly rivalries began with many of the guests being close friends of the cast. It’s always lots of fun when friends of the cast are on the show because things are usually “no holds barred” and this episode was no exception.
