Best of Weekly Music Shows: 4/1 – 4/7
Welcome to another recap of the week’s music shows! This week, Infinite took home wins on all possible shows, beating out the likes of Davichi‘s “Turtle,” Lee Hi‘s “Rose,” and Busker Busker‘s “Cherry Blossom Ending.” K.Will, Lunafly, and the Electroboyz made their comebacks while GI, Delight, and Pure made their debuts. In addition, MBC aired their Korean Music Wave in Bangkok concert, bringing back a slew of performances from the past year. Below are my favorites of the week; leave a comment with yours!
K.Will’s “Lay Back” + “Love Blossom,” KBS Music Bank, April 5, 2013
K.Will’s contrasting stages were great to watch and listen to. I liked the little movements in the first one and the chair portions. The second was just so playful, and the trombones were a nice touch.
Lunafly’s “Fly to Love,” KBS Music Bank, April 5, 2013
Lunafly’s comeback is a lot brighter than their previous release. It’s good to see them getting more exposure through more mainstream promotions, even if some thought Teo was a girl.
B1A4‘s Sandeul‘s cover of Sunflower‘s “In Your Arms,” KBS Immortal Song 2, April 6, 2013
The arrangement for this song was done just so wonderfully with the strings and accordion. Most of the English pronunciation was pretty good as well. Immortal Song 2 has really been great for Sandeul in both helping him develop his already great voice and show it off through the performances.
4MEN‘s cover of Sunflower’s “Love’s Poem,” KBS Immortal Song 2, April 6, 2013
The trio definitely impressed with their continued layering of sounds. It’s not surprising that they took the win for the episode this week, leaving even the judge, Lee Joo-ho, with dropped jaw.
15&‘s “Somebody,” SBS Kpop Star 2, April 7, 2013
The young duo had their comeback stage on Kpop Star 2‘s stage, appropriately on the final episode. And fears of something similar to “Nobody” can be put to rest. The song is fun and appropriate, and the girls worked that stage well. Of course, as it is Kpop Star 2, the performance couldn’t be complete without showing JYP and even Yang Hyun-suk jamming out to the song.
BTOB‘s “Wow,” MBC Korean Music Wave in Bangkok, April 7, 2013
Warning: screams. Lots of screams. So many screams. The whole thing with just Ilhoon at the beginning seemed a bit unnecessary, but the added dance part was fun. The boys had a lot of energy, which made it fun to watch. They should be making a comeback within the next week.
B.A.P‘s “One Shot,” MBC Korean Music Wave in Bangkok, April 7, 2013
There are still screams. Would this be my post if I didn’t have them here? Probably not. But it’s not my fault they always bring it to every performance. The fireworks during the last stretch of the chorus were well-timed and added to the performance well. In related news, tickets for the B.A.P Live on Earth Pacific tour’s United States portion with Verizon opened up yesterday. Anyone grab one to see this live?
