Best of Weekly Music Shows: 3/11 – 3/17
Welcome to another selection of performances from the week’s music shows! This week saw SBS Inkigayo reviving their ranking system, which has a heavy emphasis on digital sales and fan participation on social media and through mobile votes. For the first week of this system, SHINee pulled through to win over Lee Hi and SISTAR19! MBC Music Core also plans to implement a ranking system, which should come into effect in April. The result from Music Core‘s involvement is five weekly music shows, all with some sort of ranking system. Below are my picks from the week’s shows, but don’t forget to leave a comment sharing your favorites!
B.A.P‘s “One Shot,” MBC Music Show! Champion, March 13, 2013
Nope. Still not sick of this song and performance. The boys bring it every time, and this one is no exception. As a bonus for the already-passed White Day, here‘s a bonus clip of the group’s vocal line bringing a little of H.O.T‘s “Candy” to your life.
SHINee’s “Dream Girl,” Mnet M! Countdown, March 14, 2013
Well hello Onew with glasses. And there’s not a pair of shorts and tights in sight for this one. I’m not sure Taemin‘s suit combination is better, but I’ll take what I can get. The group has really gotten into this performance. A quick comparison with their first week of promotions shows such an increase in confidence with the movements which is just fantastic.
Lee Hi’s “It’s Over,” SBS Inkigayo, March 17, 2013
This performance is fun, and Lee Hi is much more relaxed on stage, an improvement from the stiffer “1,2,3,4″ days. An appearance by Taeyang-bear adds to the sweet performance as well.
D-Unit‘s “Talk to My Face,” SBS Inkigayo, March 17, 2013
The groups brings a high energy performance enjoyable to watch. And their new guest member, JNey of GP Basic, seems to be a ball of energy running around the stage, which is great.
Girl’s Day‘s “Expect Me,” SBS Inkigayo, March 17, 2013
I wasn’t expecting Girl’s Day’s comeback to be so catchy, though I very much appreciate their return back to the more mature music. Their choreography is interesting, and I like the suspenders play.
U-KISS‘s “Standing Still,” SBS Inkigayo, March 17, 2013
This song and choreography has U-KISS stamped all over it, and it’s good to see AJ back too. That trio of vocalists Kevin, Soohyun, and Hoon near the end is excellent.
G.NA‘s “First Kiss” + “Oops” (featuring BTOB‘s Ilhoon), SBS Inkigayo, March 17, 2013
“Oops” is really lovely and delicate, and I like the choice of the short, red haired wig for the song. The song is definitely a welcome turn from the previous “2Hot.”
